About the role

About the Role

Mortgage Cadence is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to own automation coverage for our Triage and Document Center platform. You will design and build test frameworks from scratch, integrate them into our Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and set the quality bar for one of our most critical functional domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks from scratch across UI, API, and integration layers
  • Own end-to-end automation coverage for the Triage and Document Center workflows
  • Evaluate and select tools and technologies to meet evolving organizational quality needs
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps)
  • Define quality standards, best practices, and onboarding documentation for future team members
  • Collaborate with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure testability at every stage of delivery
  • Establish test data management strategies
  • Design and build custom internal tools and utilities to support and extend the automation ecosystem
  • Contribute to architecture-level testing strategy decisions across the broader QA organization

Required Skills & Qualifications

Programming & Scripting

  • Proficiency in one or more of: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#
  • Strong object-oriented programming and design pattern knowledge (Page Object Model, Factory, Singleton)
  • Experience scripting for test infrastructure setup (Bash, PowerShell)

Framework Design & Architecture

  • Proven experience building test automation frameworks from scratch
  • Expert-level knowledge of UI automation tools: Selenium or Playwright
  • Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, Behave) for behavior-driven test design
  • Understanding of test framework architecture: modular, data-driven, keyword-driven, and hybrid approaches
  • Ability to evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies to fit organizational scale and needs

API & Integration Testing

  • Deep understanding of REST APIs and HTTP protocol
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools: Postman, REST Assured, Karate

CI/CD & DevOps Integration

  • Strong working knowledge of Azure DevOps — pipelines, work item tracking, and test plan integration
  • Experience wiring automated test suites into build/release pipelines

Data & Database Testing

  • Working knowledge of SQL databases and query construction
  • Familiarity with database testing concepts and validation patterns
  • Experience with test data management strategies: generation, masking, and seeding

Experience & Education

  • 4–5+ years of hands-on test automation experience — building frameworks, not just running them
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Architecture-level testing strategy experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in a Mortgage, FinTech, or regulated-industry environment a plus
  • Soft Skills & Strategic Thinking
  • Ability to define and champion quality standards and best practices across teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving instincts
  • Comfortable collaborating with development, product, and DevOps stakeholders
  • Comfortable remotely working with team members across multiple time zones
  • Strong documentation discipline — onboarding guides, process docs, and testing SOPs for future hires
